Our Story

Cathedral Praise and Worship Center was birthed in January 2020 out of the ministry of
Cathedral of Praise Christian Church, under leadership of the late Bishop Adrian Leavell.

Cathedral Praise and Worship Center is founded on II Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
And Acts 6:4 …we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our belief is that God’s Word is the compass for abundant life. Prayer is essential.

Cathedral Praise and Worship Center is currently worshipping in its new location at 1908 N. Walnut St., Muncie, IN 47303.

It is a place where everybody is somebody and Jesus is the center of attraction.

Our Leaders

ELDER LESTER E. WHIGUM, PASTOR

Elder Lester E. Whigum was called to pastor Cathedral Praise and Worship Center under the tutelage of the late Bishop Adrian Leavell Sr. Pastor Whigum was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana. He attended Muncie Community Schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School. He continued his education as an adult and enrolled in bible courses at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Elder Whigum accepted Christ as a young man at Deliverance Temple in Muncie under leadership of the late Bishop Jimmie Clark Sr. This is where Pastor Whigum obtained his foundational Christian teaching. He recalls spending time with the older saints. He loved and respected their wisdom and knowledge of the scriptures.

Pastor Whigum’s career includes positions of service at the Juvenile Detention Center and other facilities for youth. He has worked as a chef and also managed restaurants. Elder Whigum became an entrepreneur for a short while and opened two local restaurants: L’Whig’s Fried Chicken and Fish and then Manna Soul Food. He says, “I love seeing people’s smiling faces as they enjoy my southern cooking.”

Pastor Whigum’s outstanding work in community service is his over 25 years’ experience as a foster parent. Pastor Whigum’s most engaging characteristic is that he never meets a stranger. He is always willing to listen to people unconditionally. He shares words of wisdom and is always prepared to help in any way he can. It is his ministry. Pastor Whigum spends time studying the Bible to fulfill his vision of bringing understanding of God’s Word to people. He is eager and ready to serve others with compassion. Pastor Whigum is the husband of Andrea Whigum and together they parent 7 children.

ANDREA L. WHIGUM, MINISTER

Sis Andrea Whigum’s favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Sis. Whigum states, “no matter what I go through or what happens in life I can always think on this scripture and be at ease. My trust is in the Lord.” Sis. Whigum likes to share the belief that her profession as a social worker also fulfills her call to ministry. It provides opportunities to serve others at their point of need and satisfies her heart to love, serve and give to others. In 2021, Sis. Whigum accepted God’s call to minister with her husband Pastor Whigum.
